Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi | Bajaj Avenger 220 DTSi | Bajaj Pulsar 220 and Avenger 220!

Previously being restricted to Bajaj Pro Biking dealerships, Bajaj Auto has now thrown open the sales and service of the Bajaj Pulsar 220 and the Bajaj Avenger 220 from all authorized Bajaj dealerships. This marked shift in strategy from Bajaj Auto means that, both the Pulsar 220 and the Avenger 220 would be sold in a lot more Bajaj dealerships across India, thus making these motorcycles accessible from a lot more sales points across the country.

Increase in sales could be a result that this move from Bajaj Auto leads to as Bajaj is all set to expand it’s capacity to a whopping 5 million units per year, beginning from October this year.  The other added advantage however is the fact that the Pulsar 220 and the Avenger 220 can be serviced in virtually any Bajaj service center, which was previously limited only to pro-biking outlets. So, access to service and spares too are expected to become easier for Pulsar 220 and Avenger 220 owners.

While both these moves from Bajaj Auto Limited are aimed at making the Pulsar 220 and the Avenger 220 appeal to a wider section of premium motorcycling buying populace, the motorcycling community seems to be divided upon this particular move of Bajaj Auto. Some Pulsar 220 and Avenger 220 owners feel that the Bajaj Pro-Biking outlets are definitely better equipped to handle these motorcycles than normal Bajaj dealerships and authorized service centers.

While this might be true to a certain extent due to the higher level of training that the Pro-Biking mechanics may have received due to the Pro-Biking dealerships’ status as premium outlets to sell and service Bajaj motorcycles, the Pulsar 220 and the Avenger 220′s mechanicals are not very different from that of the 150cc or 180cc Pulsar. So, if a mechanic is competent enough to handle the likes of the 150cc or 180cc Bajaj Pulsar, the 220s should be a walk in the park really. So, this move is indeed a welcome one in our opinion.
